The 2020 Fall Frenzy $1,500 no-limit hold’em main event at bestbet Jacksonville attracted a total of 213 entries, creating a $285,420 prize pool. That money was paid out among the top 27 finishers, with the largest share going to eventual champion Brian Cox. The Jacksonville, FL resident took home $69,349 and the championship trophy for the win after coming out on top of the final table that was broadcast on bestbetLIVE.
The tournament kicked off on Saturday, October 24. The field of 213 entries was narrowed down to a final table of eight players during the course of day 1, with Joseph Crosby bagging up the chip lead. Nikhil Sunku ended the day in second chip position, while Cox would start in fifth place.
Cox won a huge pot early on with a flopped set of sevens against the top pair and flush draw of Brian Dumaplin. The set held up to see Cox double up, while Dumaplin was left short and soon was eliminated in seventh place ($9,704).
During five-handed action a wild hand arose that resulted in a three-way all-in. Short-stack Christina Read picked up AA under the gun and raised to 110,000. Cox picked up KK to her left and three-bet to 300,000. Joseph Crosby looked down at AK in the small blind and moved all-in for 1,126,000 total. Read called all-in for 300,000 total and Cox came along with his pocket kings, having both of his opponents covered. The board ran out JJ988 and Read tripled up by winning the main pot. Cox’s kings held up on the massive side pot to send Crosby home in fifth place ($13,743).
Cox increased his stack despite losing the main pot. He knocked out Christopher Alen in third place ($29,256) to take a sizable lead into heads-up play with Nikhil Sunku. In the final hand, Sunku shoved from the button with K10 for around 13 big blinds. Cox called with A7 and the 54264 runout kept Cox ahead to earn him the pot and the title. Sunku cashed for $48,130 as the runner-up finisher.
